The UK Treescapes Launch was a unique half-day event held in December 2021, led by the Ambassadors of the Future of UK Treescapes Programme. The event, which was held online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ignited conversations around our woods, forests and treescapes.

Our trees help us tackle climate change, support animal life and benefit our well-being and culture. Yet our trees are also under threat from climate change, disease and demand for land. And unfortunately, this has led to decades of loss in animal and plant life, environmental quality and cultural heritage.

In the light of COP26’s promise to end deforestation by 2030, and the UK Government’s plans to drastically increase tree cover in the UK over the coming years, we must urgently start answering how we will achieve these goals. And given the tumultuous years from the pandemic highlighting the importance of nature and the great outdoors to our health and wellbeing, we must answer these questions with an acute focus on supporting society as a whole.

This event brought together a range of expert speakers from across our project portfolio and stakeholders to discuss these important topics and how we build resilient treescapes for the future.
